We had the privilege of producing this branded documentary for Highlands Ranch Dental Care, a practice owned by Dr. Lynelle Zabel. Dr. Zabel approached our team to help with increasing her leads for her Digital Smile Design service. We decided to market this service by following a patient who had gone through a major life transformation and needed a smile to match it.

Second Chances follows Nick Wells. A man who battled addiction from age 14, faced a 60-year prison sentence, and found redemption through CrossFit, ultimately earning clemency. Now, he's on the next leg of his journey: a smile transformation that reflects the man he's worked so hard to become.

Our Approach

We built the documentary around two voices: Nick's and Dr. Zabel's. Through intimate interviews, we let Nick tell his story in his own words — his past, his transformation, and what this next chapter means to him. Dr. Zabel walked us through her process, grounding the emotional narrative in her expertise and genuine care for her patients. The centerpiece of the film was a real-time reveal moment: Nick seeing a 3D rendering of his future smile for the first time. That unscripted reaction became the emotional core of the entire piece.

The Results

Second Chances did what the best branded content does: it made people feel something. By leading with Nick's story rather than a service pitch, the documentary positioned Highlands Ranch Dental Care as more than a dental practice. It positioned them as a place where real transformation happens. The film gave Dr. Zabel a powerful, shareable asset that communicates the value of Digital Smile Design far more effectively than any ad could, connecting with prospective patients on an emotional level before they ever walk through the door.
